Karuna Karmarkar is a Los Angeles based set decorator for feature films, tv and commercials.
She is best known for her work as set decorator for Damien Chazelle's acclaimed Academy Award winning drama WHIPLASH (Sony Pictures Classics) nominated for 5 ACADEMY AWARDS including BEST PICTURE.
Her most recent project LADY IN THE LAKE, a 1960’s true crime series for Apple TV starring Natalie Portman, will premiere in 2024. In addition, as decorator, she established the permanent sets for the DISNEY+ MARVEL series MS. MARVEL, and MAYANS MC, the SONS OF ANARCHY spinoff.
She studied at two of UCLA's leading art programs - the School of Design Media Arts and the School of Film & TV - graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA's Film program.
Karuna is also a photographer. A collection of her work can be found on ODDITYPHOTODIARY She is a member of the Set Decorator's Society of America (SDSA) and IATSE Local 44.
